Babywearing

As a babywearing consultant, I can help you find the right way for you to carry your children with confort, safety and ease, through workshops and consultations in Luxembourg.

This is me carrying my one year old son on a front carry using a size 4 woven wrap.

Babywearing is (not only) an amazing parenting tool. It gives us the possibility to provide our children with what they need (contact, closeness, warmth) without losing our freedom (and our minds). And beyond the practical side, the practice of babywearing strengthens the bond with our children, and is empowering for us as parents since it allows us to better respond to their needs. Moreover, the closeness and the contact is calming for adults as well, the release of oxytocin makes both parent and child feel good and safe, they can listen to our heartbeats and we can feel their soft warmth against ourselves. It is truly a unique and rewarding experience.

Children need contact and want to be carried from the moment they are born, and this need persists well into their preschool years. When using ergonomic carriers and slings, we get to carry our children in a way that is comfortable, respectful and safe for both parts.

Every dyad of parent-baby is unique, and there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ carrier. I offer different modalities in which I can help you find the right option for you and your family. All the modalities include:

  • The possibility of trying on different carriers from my sling library including stretchy and woven wraps, ringslings, full- and half-buckle carriers and onbuhimos. For the soft-structured carriers I have adjustable models, baby, toddler, and preschool sizes.
  • A follow-up period in which you can send me photos and videos for me to do a fit-check and help out through email or WhatsApp.
  • Access to exclusive discounts at different babywearing brands that I recommend, all tried personally by myself. All of them are small businesses or even family-run, eco friendly and fair trade, and, most importantly, designed with the support and advice of babywearing consultants, so that they are always ergonomic and respectful.

Group babywearing workshops

These are general group workshop held in person in Luxembourg. They are tailored for expecting parents and families with small children. Due to general demand the language of the language is normally english, but I will happily clarify in French or Spanish when needed.

On these two hour long workshop we:

  • Discover the bases of ergonomic babywearing
  • Learn the keys to carry your children in all safety
  • I will introduce the different types of carriers (stretchy and woven wraps, ringslings, and soft structured carriers) and explain their differences
  • Then I will demonstrate the utilisation of every type of carrier
  • And finally every parent will try on the carrier(s) of their choice, either with their own child or with a demo doll (or both!). I will help them, make small remarks, and give advice to improve the utilisation and increase the confort, get a good fit, etc.

Participants are also welcome to bring their own carriers, if they already have some, to try on during the practical part of the workshop.

This workshop is available also as a private class. For more information about privates, head down below!

You can check the upcoming dates in the Events section, or head directly to the Shop to book your spot!

Private consultations

When taking a private class, you can opt between a full workshop (see description above), or put focus into specific topics. It is really up to you: we will cover exactly the topics you are interested in. Some examples of private sessions could include:
– Woven wraps: to learn different carries (front, hip or back) or perfect your technique,
– Back carrying: a private back carry ‘boot camp’ to get you to feel comfortable carrying your kid on your back with any carrier,
– Perfect the use of a specific carrier that you already have, tweak and fix possible problems to maximize the confort
– Breasfeeding on a carrier: babywearing can help you to actually breasfeed “hands free” and on the go!
– Tandem carrying: for twins or two kids of different ages, learn different options to carry two at the same time!

Back-carrying workshop

This workshop is for you if your baby loves to be carried but you feel they might want to see more of the world, if they are getting too tall and blocking your vision when carried on the front, if you love to carry them but feel they are getting too heavy and you might want to switch to different weight distributions, or simply if you wish to have long walks in the forest, go for a hike, or do chores at home while your baby naps on the carrier with confort and ease!
During this workshop we will explore and get confident with back carrying your baby in the carrier of your choice. We will see different ways to put your baby on your back and to get them safely down, safety measures, and hacks and tweaks to improve comfort. Attendants are welcome to bring the carrier they normally use, but they are also invited to try out other options.

There is no minimum or maximum age (of your child, of course!) to attend this workshop, but for small babies, some previous babywearing experience is recommended.
The semi-private workshops are organized on demand, with a minimum of two participants. You can contact me to set a date if you have friends that want to do the workshop with you, or we can set the date and I will publish it on the Events page so that other moms can join.

Wrapping workshop

Me with me eldest when he was 1.5yo.
I always loved trying different carries and finishes on the wrap.

This is a workshop where we will deepen into the amazing possibilities offered by the most versatile carrier available: the woven wrap (but many things that we will learn we can also do on a stretchy!). This workshop is open to everyone, no previous babywearing or wrapping experience needed.

This two hour long workshop will be split in two parts:

  • On the first part, I will explain the key technical points that will allow participants to use their wraps with ease and confort. We will learn the different types of passes and the structure of woven wrap carries, strand-by-strand tightening, whole-wrap tightening, and seat making. We will learn about the importance of keeping a good tension while wrapping, and how to get rid of slack.
  • On the second part, we will learn different carries. New wrappers will start with FWCC, but people with previous wrapping experience will be able to move on to different front, hip and/or back carries (previous back carrying experience recommended since back carrying will not be the focus of this particular workshop). I will show different carries and every participant will choose the ones they want to focus on.

We will work on every one’s particular interests and built on their current knowledge, I will propose also variations and different finishes for the carries they already know.
